I have only been using it for less than a day and so far all I can say is “WOW!” This is a great example of how good software integration can additive. Keep in mind that I have used several other source control and developer tools in the past. Some were great and some not so much, but none nearly as well integrated with other software development tools as Team Foundation. I am normally not one for having to buy into tightly integrated solutions that tie you up to vendors and or upgrade paths, etc. However, Team Foundation provides a great user experience for developers. In fact, I’d go as far to say that it’s the best and most invaluable tool for development outside of IDE’s/Compiler’s.
Come to think of it, it also speaks volumes about the underlying platforms it uses such as SharePoint, Visual Studio, Sql Server Engine, Sql Server Reporting Services, Analysis Services, basically the entire Sql Server 2005 stack among others.
I’ll be sure to keep posting on specific areas such as Source Control, Project management, etc. as I explore more of these features. So far I am very impressed and the tool has exceeded every hyped expectation I had. Btw in case you were wondering about the source control… it ROCKS!!!
